As your middle schooler navigates this important stage of self-discovery, have you caught yourself wondering what direction is right for them after high school? How can they start exploring options and cultivating interests that may lead to a fulfilling future career?

These are significant questions that many parents face. At Rise, we understand the hopes and uncertainties that come with helping guide your child during this phase. With that in mind, we offer mentoring to help students discover their passions and career direction—and I’m excited to tell you more!

Crimson Rise is an intensive skills development and profile building program for students aged 11-14. A cornerstone of the program is supporting students uncovering their passion and building a comprehensive academic and skills roadmap to support students achieving their passion-oriented goals.

This is achieved through three stages:

  1. Elevator Pitch: students commence working with their strategist by completing an Elevator Pitch, which involves a holistic assessment of their past experiences, current goals, and future direction. With both reflective and goal-setting components, this phase helps students reflect on their achievements, understand their drivers, and facilitates future-oriented thinking. Students complete this module with a nifty elevator pitch, which they convert into a succinct hook statement.
  1. Career Exploration: for students looking to identify their passion, the next phase of the program is working on career exploration. This begins by students completing a comprehensive psychometric profiling assessment, which provides suggested careers based upon the student’s skills, interests, and passions. Crimson Strategists then support students on taking a deep dive of their top careers of choice, which includes examining the job role and responsibilities, as well as skills and education requirements. Strategists then support students by aligning this to the student’s own profile.
  1. University Identification: once students have identified their passions, and possible career paths, students are encouraged to explore possible universities, including domestic and international options. During this discovery phase, with tailored suggestions and expert guidance from Crimson Strategists, students are able to explore suitable study pathways (i.e. Degrees or Majors), examine a universities suitability based on their personality, and identify clubs or societies of interest. Students complete a tangible deep dive on several universities tailored to their unique skills, interests and passions.

The outputs of each of these stages are captured in the student’s own Crimson Rise Workbook. These three steps culminate in the development of a holistic and personalised roadmap encompassing academic, extra-curriculars, and skills development in order to position your son/daughter to pursue their passion. Developmentally, this process can have profound impacts for students as it is often the first time that students imagine their ‘future self’ in an academic context. This also has additional benefits of students drawing an increased connection to the importance of academics and extra-curriculars in the context of their newfound ambitions and aspirations.
