The Thacher School experience, more than anything, is about a lifestyle with a big focus on nature and holistic life learning. More than just sports, the outdoors culture facilitates hiking and immersing in nature.
Students will generally not specialize in specific sports/arts, as they're required to do 3 sports, an art, and the horse program. Thacher also requires all students to join the equestrian program during their 1st year, where they are assigned a horse to take care of (muck out stables, saddle up, etc.), and learn horse riding.
Thacher is a highly structured environment, generally directing the student experience. For example, the school chooses which history topic students take as sophomores, and which math track to go on. According to admissions, students graduate as good writers, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.

Woodside Priory offers a relaxed, collaborative environment reminiscent of summer camp. Students bond while working and living together in cabin residences nestled within tall trees.
The curriculum provides a well-rounded liberal arts foundation, including 4 years of English/math, 3 years of science/history/theology, and 2 years of foreign language. AP courses are being phased out for small college-style learning. The college prep culture here suggests students go for "best-fit" schools, which leads around 90% of students to get into their personal Top 2 colleges, which often include smaller liberal arts colleges.
Students are required to play a sport or take a gym class, with nearly all participating in sports - many at the varsity level. While some get recruited for college athletics, it's not the predominant focus.
These schools align with both your child's personality and their current SSAT score. They offer an environment that matches your child's academic profile and personal interests.

The school is best suited for students who have a special interest in academics, arts or solo-ports and are pro active to build the experience they want.
Student community is very diverse with mixed skill (art, STEM, Humanities, athletics) and personalities.
